Ball Vape Power for Your Pocket
Ball vaporizers are currently considered the absolute ultimate benchmark in the field of desktop vaporizers. They stand out due to a very special characteristic. They produce extremely dense vapor clouds, almost resembling smoke in intensity, while maintaining a very pure and unadulterated flavor.

Perhaps you already have a Brennix Lift-Off at home and love the performance, but you’re missing the right solution for on the go? This is where the Mad Heaters Tempest 2 comes into play: the concentrated power of a ball vape in a compact pen format. Mad Heaters has succeeded in packing the efficiency of a desktop device into a handy TED (Thermal Extraction Device) that is just about the size of a ballpoint pen.
Material and Feel

The device is made of high-quality Grade 5 titanium and stainless steel, complemented by an aluminum heatshield. Grade 5 Titanium has excellent corrosion properties and is therefore often used in aerospace and medical technology for implants. This combination of materials ensures not only durability but also a pleasant weight. The Mad Heaters Tempest 2 Ball Vaporizer feels premium, but not heavy in the hand.
Heater Head
The heater head is divided into three functional areas:

- At the tip sit the green Visual Indicator and the Click-Discs for temperature feedback.
- The middle part forms the Induction Sleeve with integrated air inlets, under which the heat-retaining balls are located.
- The lower area serves as a secure closure and firmly connects the cap to the bowl via a robust thread.
Visual Heat Indicator & Click Disc
The Tempest 2 is the only mechanical vaporizer to feature a three-stage visual heat indicator. This helps you precisely set the desired temperature without having to rely solely on your hearing. In particularly loud environments like a party or concert, this is a huge advantage. Even if you get chatting and miss the “click,” burning your delicious herbs is effectively prevented. After all, nothing is more annoying than having to clean the entire device after such a fail.
You heard right: The obligatory click disc is, of course, still on board for acoustic and haptic feedback. This means you have triple protection, and accidental combustion is finally a thing of the past.
Adjustable Airflow
Located under the heat indicator is the induction sleeve with four air inlets. This is where air is drawn in and guided through the balls. You can use the included tool to loosen the screw at the top of the bowl slightly and adjust the size of the openings by turning the sleeve. This allows you to tailor the draw resistance to your personal preference.
Interchangeable Balls

You can replace the balls inside the heater to change the thermal properties of the Tempest 2. This allows the extraction characteristics to be precisely adapted to your preferences. If you’re into massive one-hit extractions, then the Tempest 2 is exactly the right tool for you. Such massive clouds aren’t a must, as the Tempest can also be gentler if you adjust the heat input accordingly.
The choice of material plays a decisive role here. While stainless steel, for example, stores a lot of heat and releases it evenly, silicon carbide offers extremely high thermal conductivity.
Here is an overview of the available materials and their technical properties:
| Material | Density | Fill Weight | Thermal Conductivity | Wall Temp. 1* | Wall Temp. 2* |
| Stainless Steel | 7.87 g/cc | 5.6 g | 16.3 W/m•K | 320°C | 430°C |
| Zirconia (Standard) | 5.68 g/cc | 4.1 g | 1.1 W/m•K | 290°C | 400°C |
| Silicon Carbide (SiC) | 3.21 g/cc | 2.2 g | 120 W/m•K | 260°C | 360°C |
| Quartz Glass | 2.65 g/cm³ | 1.4 g | 3 W/m•K | 250°C | 350°C |
| Ruby | 4 g/cm³ | 2.8 g | 35 W/m•K | 250°C | 350°C |
Stainless steel is recommended more for sipping and silicon carbide for ripping. Try it out and feel free to experiment a little!
Optimized for Induction with the Cuboo Heater XL

The Mad Heaters Tempest 2 Ball Vaporizer shines in combination with the Cuboo Heater XL. The Tempest 2 is not only induction-ready but optimized for it. While you can achieve very good results with a jet lighter with some practice and the indicator feedback, you can perfect the whole experience with the Cuboo Heater XL.
This ensures you can exactly reproduce your desired roast of the herbs every time. Heating duration and power output can be precisely adjusted. With the Cuboo Heater XL, you combine the advantages of both the mechanical and electrical vaporizer worlds. Check out the full post on the Cuboo Heater XL here.
Bowl

You can fill up to approx. 0.2 g of herbs into the herb chamber. Inside the bowl, there are notches for the screen to change the bowl size. You have three positions to choose from: 0.1 g / 0.15 g / 0.2 g. This works pretty well and quickly with the included C-Tool without causing a nervous breakdown.
Stem
The stem is far more than just a connecting piece; thanks to its feel and performance, it is a useful upgrade and compatible with your existing setup. It features a mount for 8mm tips, so you can easily combine various other bowls, such as those from DynaVap or the Convector, with the stem.

Additionally, the stem features an integrated, two-stage carb hole. Its opening can be finely adjusted by rotating the heatshield. This allows you to precisely determine how much secondary air is drawn in, or completely close the hole if needed. The Mad Heaters Tempest 2 is perfectly balanced and by no means top-heavy. The cooling fins under the heatshield dissipate the generated heat very well.
Heatshield
The heatshield fully lives up to its name and does a wonderful job of protecting your fingers from the heat. Moreover, it is very grippy; I constantly find myself using the piece as a fidget toy.

This makes the Mad Heaters Tempest 2 ideal to rotate between thumb and index finger while heating with a lighter. With other TEDs, this is usually a bit more difficult, and I’ve had one or two devices slip out of my hand while heating – Ouch! The shape of the shield also serves as a roll-stop, preventing your Tempest 2 from accidentally rolling off the table.
Mouthpiece/WPA
The mouthpiece doubles as a WPA. It fits onto 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm joints without additional accessories, sitting securely in the water filter. When you unscrew the mouthpiece, the titanium cooling spiral is revealed.
The spiral ensures such pleasant and cool vapor, without an unpleasant “kick” in the throat. This is subjective, of course; everyone reacts differently. This makes the Tempest 2 a ball vape that can be used excellently without a water filter, which is otherwise obligatory.

The cooling spiral is, of course, also interchangeable. You have the choice between three different lengths (short, medium, and long) to tune the draw resistance and cooling effect to your preferences. Generally, the draw resistance on the Tempest 2 is pleasantly low with an open sleeve and the standard medium cooling spiral installed.
If you use the Tempest 2 on a bong, you can even completely remove the cooling spiral for a totally unrestricted airflow and hit that thing like a steam engine.
Cleaning and Maintenance
As is common for most TEDs, the Tempest 2 is also very convenient to clean. Remove the heater cap, disassemble the stem, and then straight into the Iso bath. Finally, rinse everything with warm water, let it dry thoroughly, and the device is ready for use again.
You can disassemble the heater cap using the tool and carefully clean all individual parts. However, you’ll need to do this much less frequently, as all the reclaim collects in the stem, keeping the cap clean for a very long time. Please be careful with the indicator spiral and the click discs. These fine parts are delicate, and the discs must not come into contact with the Iso, as this can impair their mechanical function.
If you ever lose something, don’t worry, we have the spare parts in the shop.
Accessories
Perfect Match: Mad Heaters Reload 3
The Reload 3 is an indispensable all-in-one toolbox for the Tempest 2: Stash, Decapper, Debowler, and much more in one. Robust and expandable. Also suitable for other vaporizers.

Absolute must-buy! Check out this separate post about it.
Tempest Case
The Tempest Case is far more than just a simple transport tube. Made of robust stainless steel with a protective silicone lining inside, it safely guards your Tempest against shocks and scratches. Thanks to the heat-resistant materials, you can stow the device directly in the case even if it is still glowing hot after use. This saves your pockets and ensures safety.

Hidden in the lid is a decapper with a strong magnet, which makes daily handling enormously easier. Additionally, the case offers an optional compartment for herbs, where you can store about 1 to 1.5 g of your material. An integrated, removable debowler and a practical C-Tool round off the package.
Alongside the Reload 3, another must-buy. The case is smell-proof and ideal for on the go.
Top League: Mad Heaters Tempest 2
The Tempest 2 is a true multi-talent.
It impresses with its sheer endless customization possibilities. This isn’t just about looks, through interchangeable HeatShields, but above all about fine-tuning functionality. If you already have a few vaporizers in your collection, you know that most are one-trick ponies.
Every vaporizer possesses its own signature. The interplay of airflow, flavor, as well as heating and extraction characteristics determines how the active ingredients of your cannabis take effect. Even small changes make you perceive your “high” differently. With the Tempest 2, you can change many parameters and tune them very finely to your own preferences. It combines the mobility of a TED with the raw power of a stationary ball vape. Especially in connection with the Cuboo Heater XL, it delivers reproducible results precisely on point.
Actually, with the Tempest 2, you are not just buying a device, but a whole palette of possibilities. As soon as the VAS kicks in again, simply swap the balls and experiment with the airflow. It will immediately feel as if you are holding a brand-new vaporizer in your hand.
If the VAS happens to be a bit stronger: Perhaps Dr. Dabber can help!
